''Pelusios castaneus'' is endemic to West and Middle Africa. ==Taxonomy== The so-called Seychelles black terrapin, Seychelles mud turtle, or Seychelles terrapin was considered a species of turtle (''Pelusios seychellensis'') in the Pelomedusidae family, endemic to Seychelles.
